For the past three years I have worked as a multimedia journalist in Virginia, Maryland and in the District of Columbia, where I helped inform our Latino community. I have helped cover historical events such as, the Black Lives Matter protests, the 2021 presidential election and inauguration and the U.S. Capitol attacks. I graduated from Arizona State University in 2017 with a bachelor's degree in multimedia journalism. A few weeks later I was hired as a multimedia journalist for Univision Boston. In this role I covered the Latino community for nearly two years. I have embraced my interviewing, editing, time management, writing and reporting skills. Before I joined the Boston team, I was a reporter for Cronkite Noticias, the Spanish broadcast program at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication which aired on Univision Arizona.
As an on-air talent, I know the fundamentals of a good storyteller. My hard work and dedication has been highlighted a couple of times while in D.C. and Boston. I received a Capital Emmy in 2020 and was named best reporter and best journalist of 2018 by the Premios Latin Boston USA. I also received the 2019 Inspirational Woman award for the outstanding communicator category. Furthermore, my work has aired across the country and throughout Latin America on Noticias Univision Nacional. While working here in this newsroom, I am grateful to say that my reporting skills keep improving; I believe there is always room for growth. In the past four years, not only did I strengthen my writing and storytelling skills in Spanish but I also discovered how truly passionate I am about this field, especially because of the impact we are able to make in our Latino communities. Developing a strong professional rapport with community members helps us distinguish the stories that matter most to our viewers but it is also important to visually tell the story in such a way that maintains the audience engaged. Fact checking is paramount and I always verify my facts prior to disclosing any information. As a Multimedia Journalist, I have strengthened the skill of thinking on my feet and working under a tight deadline with limited resources. I enjoy stringing together a story with great interviews, natural sound, strong writing and a variety of creative shots. Innovative and informative stories keep the viewers engaged and help them learn about the issues affecting their communities. It is my passion and duty to ensure our audience receives the most relevant, accurate and critical information. By doing so, I’m ensuring a stronger democracy.
